Standalone HD DVR

Looking for an option besides the soon-to-be-not-so-compatible HR10250 for recording HD content from both DirecTV and off-air sources. Currently have an integrated DirecTV/Tivo for standard-def with a 160 gig drive, but considering getting an HD set and want to do it ONCE. While the previous relationship between Tivo and DirecTV is history, there are those of us who like the Tivo programming system and would like something as close to that as we might find without having to wait until fall for a unit that is Mpeg4 compatible. Do any of the CE manufacturers have anything coming out (SOON!) that might fit the bill?

Is buying a DirecTV HD Tivo worth it?

With HD getting more popular and as a family upgrading to plasma based HD TVs for the house, we want HD through DirecTV, but we dont want to lose our Tivo.  Is buying a HD Tivo worth it through DirecTV or do they have their own coming?

Directivo and netwroking

Hello all, I just signed up for Direct tv w/tivo service. I have a couple of questions. Is there a way to set up the tivo w/ my wireless G network? So I can transfer recorded shows to my PC and burn them to DVD. Second is there a way to increase my hard drive space?

Samsung SIR-S4040R

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I want to ensure I don't waste my money. I have a SAMSUNG SIR-S4040R (DirecTv/Tivo setup). I want to save programs from Now Playing list to DVD, however, I'm a little skittish about buying a DVD recorder, hearing horror stories of crappy quality at 4 hour recording speed, and 5 hours to record a 1 hour program! Any of this true? What would be the most compatibel DVD Recorder to use with my Tivo unit? How about hook ups? S-Cable, RCA, etc...

Adding Series 2 Tivo with DirecTv Tivo

I currently have a DirecTv Tivo and want to add a Series 2 for the Home Media Option and for the additional space.  I plan on setting up the series 2 wirelessley.  Are there any problems I should anticpate in setting up both Tivo's?

Can I record on one DirecTV TiVo, and watch on another?

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully set up their DirecTV TiVos, so that a program can be recorded on one machine, and watched on the other.  DirecTV tells me that feature is available on stand-alone TiVos (as part of the Home Media option), but not with their DirecTV TiVo receivers.  Has anyone successfully gotten around this restriction?

DirecTv Tivo Unit - Can one cable be split for dual tuner functionality

I have a DirecTv Tivo unit and love it.  The unit has two tuners so I can record two shows at the same time.  The problem is that I only have one cable leading from my splitter (my signal goes from my dish, to a splitter in the basement, and then to four rooms in my home) to the room where the DirecTv Tivo unit is.  My electrician said it would be a major job to run another cable up to that room from the basement.  I have tried using the cable that I have and using a splitter in the room to connect to the two separate inputs on the DirecTv Tivo box.  What happens is that I only seem to be able to receive about 2/3 of my available channels.  Have also tried a signal booster and this doesn't help.  When I check my setup screen on Tivo, many of the nodes receive no signal and I'm guessing those are the ones that carry the signal for the channels that won't work. 

 

Does anybody have a solution to this problem besides finding a way to run another coax cable from my basement to my bedroom?  Thanks!

DVD Burner Compatible with TiVo

I have a directv/Tivo box that has a feature that allows you to "transfer to vcr." Can I hook up a dvd burner instead of a vcr?

DirecTV Tivo Tricks

Is there anything I can do with a DirecTV Tivo box? Hacks? Ways to get home media option? Anything at all? Or am I just out of luck. I'd love to have some additional functionality if it exists.
