Replay HD DVR?

When will Replay introduce a DVR model capable of recording HDTV?

It is unlikely that they will. Since DNNA bought them out of SonicBlue's bankruptcy they cancelled all known development on new RTV HW (under SB RTV had been talking about integrated DVD systems, etc.) and also cancelled a number of previously announced software features (MP3 playback, USB WiFi support, 4k to 5k communication, etc).

DNNA has transferred a number of the RTV engineers to other DNNA groups, such as Escient, to work on adding DVR capabilities to high end media servers that will be sold under the Escient, Denon, and Marantz brands. (DNNA was formed by D&M Holdings - which is the parent of Denon and Maratz. D&M purchased RTV, Rio, and Escient and grouped them to form Digital Networks North America.)

All indications, at this point, are that the 5000/5500 series units may be the last of the ReplayTV line. Any HDTV support would probably be included in one of the media server products, which are much higher margin, and price, items.

They showed off a prototype at CES2004 in January, but it still hasn't shipped. Here's the press release: http://www.dba-pr.com/clients/denon/releases/CES2004%20Overview.htm
