Does anybody thing there is any hope of DirecTivo offering home networking anytime in the future? What reason do they have for disabling it?

There's been no word from DirecTV in over a year, and I don't expect them to say anything in the future. There are hacks out there to enable networking and all the TiVo 4.0 OS features in your new DirecTiVo machine, but it's quite a hack:

There is a rumor going around that new software is coming. Someone violated their NDA on TiVoCommunity.com - the thread was rapidly deleted and he didn't post any details, just that he was testing.
Could be they're finally getting with the program, or maybe it will turn out to be a minor bump.
